Polyester resin is a thermosetting polymer widely used in the manufacture of composite products due to its mechanical strength, ease of handling and low cost.
It is hardened by the addition of a catalyst, which allows its use in molding processes for the creation of parts with high precision. Its main disadvantage is its fragility when subjected to impacts and the possible degradation due to prolonged exposure to chemical agents or UV radiation.
